Ms. Cornell's Biography
I was born in 1969 right here in Shelby County. I spent most of my life growing up, playing softball and basketball right here in Memphis. I graduated from White Station high school in 1987. I obtained my first degree in physics from the University of Memphis (Memphis State) in 1990. I taught high school physics, physical science and algebra for four few years before joining the Air Force as a nuclear physicist. I was stationed in northern California and San Antonio, Texas. In between those two assignments, the Air Force was kind enough to pay for my master's work in nuclear engineering at Louisiana State University. I returned to Memphis and worked in the corporate world of nuclear waste at President's Island for seven years. Now, I'm back teaching high school physics and I enjoy spending the summers by the pool with my three children. I truly believe that my military and corporate experience give my a unique perspective and make me a better teacher.
When I'm not doing physics or working with teens or robots, I enjoy cooking, gardening, reading, watching my kids play sports, cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and the UofM and LSU Tigers..
