Starting in the 20-21-2022 school year, AP1 and AP Mechanics will be taught during the same class period. College Board dropped several items from the content of AP1 and now AP1 and Mechanics have identical content areas. The major difference between the two courses is the inclusion of calculus-based work for mechanics and the writing element for AP1. Both sets of content can successfully be taught during the same class period. Mrs. Holland is reviewing options so that both courses are listed on the transcript. This allows you to earn two credits during one class period. The hope is that you will take both exams to earn credit in both courses. If you chose to only take one exam, you will only receive credit for one course. The major change is that you are required to be enrolled in pre-calculus or a higher math to be allowed to take this course.
You do not have to complete chemistry before you take this course. You can take honors chemistry at the same time. You do not have to take honors physics before you take this course. This course is lab-intensive with hands-on experiments done at least once a week over the course of the year.
